Mission Statement
Mt. Zion Community Development, Inc. is a 501© (3) non-profit community based redevelopment corporation focused on:
empowerment of the individual and community by providing spiritual, economic, socio-economic, educational, and cultural opportunities to the greater Asheville-Buncombe County community to address the need for jobs, housing, crime prevention, education and health care, and
collaboration with local community-based organizations with local community-based organizations in the physical redevelopment of the "Block" for housing and supportive services.

As a federally and state recognized non-profit, MZCD accepts donations of all kinds, including real estate, life insurance, volunteer hours, in-kind hours and services, supplies, monies, and stocks/bonds. Please check with your attorney or tax consultant for the tax benefits of donating to a 501© (3) organization.

Project NAF (Nurturing Asheville and Area Families)
Working together to help African-American women have healthier babies
The goal of Project NAF is for minority babies to have a healthy first year of life and beyond. To reach this goal, Project NAF provides culturally sensitive and individualized services to African-American women while they are pregnant and during their baby's first year of life.

The Elizabeth Grant Hill campus of Learners seeks to help under-served individuals, families, and communities to enhance and enrich their lives by providing them with opportunities and encouraging them to master the computer skills necessary to work and thrive in the 21st century.

Real Estate Development
MZCD currently holds a significant portion of the real estate located on the "Block" in Downtown Asheville. Located on that land, are three buildings, circa 1920's, each at least three stories high, with 3600 square foot on each floor for commercial mixed use to include office space, and possibly housing. |
Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative (TPPI)
Working together to reduce teen pregnancy and the school drop out rate
Buncombe County's TPPI seeks to serve annually an unduplicated count of 40 males and females, ages 12-17 who reside or attend schoold in the zip code areas of 28001 and 28806.
